Play. Learn. Preserve.
Wasatch Mountain Institute’s mission is to provide meaningful educational experiences that connect children, families, and communities to the wonder and recreational opportunities of the outdoors. We believe that everyone who lives within view of the Wasatch Mountains—and within reach of our region’s urban green spaces—deserves a strong connection to these natural places. Through hands-on programs that encourage exploration and learning in both mountain environments and local parks, WMI fosters a lasting sense of place and responsibility. By engaging with the Wasatch Mountains and nearby green spaces, participants are inspired to care for the water, forests, and recreational resources that sustain our communities.
At Wasatch Mountain Institute, we focus on serving Title I schools in Salt Lake City and Park City, ensuring that students from underserved communities have access to transformative outdoor education.
We are dedicated to breaking down financial and logistical barriers so that every child, regardless of socioeconomic background, can experience hands-on, STEM-based learning in the natural world.
Our programs at Rock Cliff Nature Center are designed to inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and nurture a deep connection to the environment.
By prioritizing Title I schools, WMI empowers students with opportunities that build confidence, ignite a love for science and nature, and prepare them to become thoughtful stewards of the world around them.
